Privacy Policy
How Sun Hustle Co Pty Ltd collects, uses, stores and discloses personal information, in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
1. Scope of this policy
This policy applies to Sun Hustle Co Pty Ltd (ABN 99 701 404 293, ACN 701 404 293), referred to below as "we", "us" or "our". It explains how we handle personal information in the course of designing, installing, servicing and quoting solar, battery and standalone power systems, and how we handle enquiries made through this website.
We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the thirteen Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in Schedule 1 of that Act. Where an APP imposes an obligation that is more protective than a practice described here, the APP prevails.
"Personal information" has the meaning given to it in the Privacy Act: information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable, whether or not the information is true and whether or not it is recorded in a material form.
2. Information we collect
We collect only the personal information we reasonably need in order to quote for, carry out and support the work you have asked us about. In practice this is:
- Identity and contact details — your name, email address, and any postal or site address you give us.
- Property and site information — the address of the property, roof type and condition, switchboard and meter details, existing equipment, site photographs, and access or safety notes.
- Energy information — electricity bills, meter numbers, National Meter Identifier (NMI), tariff details, distributor, retailer and consumption or interval data you choose to provide.
- Job and transaction records — quotes, designs, variations, invoices, payment records, commissioning results, warranty documents and service history.
- Correspondence — emails and messages between you and us, including their attachments.
We do not seek sensitive information as defined in the Privacy Act, and we ask that you do not send it to us. We do not collect government identifiers except where a distributor, retailer or regulator requires one for a connection or rebate application, and we do not adopt a government identifier as our own identifier for you.
3. How we collect it
Wherever it is reasonable and practicable to do so, we collect personal information directly from you — from your enquiry, your emails, documents you send us, and from the site assessment we carry out with your consent.
We may also collect information about a property from you as the occupier when we have been engaged by an owner, agent or builder, or receive it from a party you have authorised to deal with us on your behalf. Where we collect information about you from someone else, we will take reasonable steps to make you aware of that collection and of this policy.
4. Why we collect and use it
We collect, hold and use personal information for the following purposes:
- responding to your enquiry and preparing a quotation;
- designing, installing, commissioning, servicing and repairing solar, battery and standalone power systems;
- lodging connection, embedded-generation and rebate applications with the relevant distributor, retailer or scheme administrator, where you have asked us to do so;
- invoicing, taking payment and maintaining our financial and tax records;
- arranging warranty claims and manufacturer support;
- contacting you about the work in progress, service intervals, safety notices or product recalls affecting equipment we installed; and
- meeting our obligations under Australian law, including electrical safety, workplace safety, consumer and taxation requirements.
We will not use your personal information for a purpose unrelated to those set out above unless you would reasonably expect it, you have consented, or the use is otherwise permitted or required by law. We do not sell personal information, and we do not send marketing material to people who have not asked for it.
5. Disclosure to others
We disclose personal information only where it is necessary for the purposes described above. The recipients may include:
- your electricity distributor and retailer, for connection, metering and embedded-generation approvals;
- equipment manufacturers and suppliers, for warranty claims and technical support;
- licensed contractors and tradespeople engaged by us on your job;
- administrators of any rebate, certificate or incentive scheme you have asked us to claim under;
- our accountants, insurers and professional advisers; and
- a court, regulator or government agency, where disclosure is required or authorised by law.
Where we engage a contractor or service provider, we take reasonable steps to ensure they handle your personal information consistently with this policy and the Australian Privacy Principles.
6. Overseas disclosure
We do not routinely disclose personal information to overseas recipients. However, some of the ordinary business software we use — email in particular — is supplied by providers that may store or process data on servers located outside Australia. Before disclosing personal information to an overseas recipient we take the steps required by APP 8 to satisfy ourselves that the recipient will handle it in a way consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.
7. Cookies and this website
This website is a static site. It does not set cookies, it does not run analytics or advertising scripts, it does not embed third-party tracking pixels, and it does not build a profile of your visit.
The enquiry form on our contact page does not transmit anything to this website. Selecting the submit button hands the details you have typed to the email program on your own device, so that you can review and send the message yourself. Nothing you type is stored here.
Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs, which can include IP addresses and request details, for the purpose of delivering the site securely and diagnosing faults. Those logs are not used to identify visitors.
8. Storage and security
Personal information is held in our email system, in the business records we keep for each job, and in our accounting records. We take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, interference and loss, and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure — including access controls, device security, and limiting access to the people who need it to do the work.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. If we become aware of an eligible data breach within the meaning of the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme in Part IIIC of the Privacy Act, we will assess it promptly and notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required.
9. How long we keep it
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes set out in this policy, or for as long as we are required to keep it by law. In practice:
- Enquiries that do not proceed — generally kept for up to two years, then deleted.
- Job, design and commissioning records — kept for the life of the installed system, because they are needed for servicing, fault-finding and warranty claims.
- Financial and taxation records — kept for at least the period required under Australian taxation law.
When personal information is no longer needed and we are not required to retain it, we take reasonable steps to destroy it or to ensure it is de-identified.
10. Access and correction
Under APP 12 and APP 13 you may ask us for access to the personal information we hold about you, and you may ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading.
Send your request to ceo@sunhustlecotec.site. We will need to be reasonably satisfied of your identity before releasing information. We aim to respond within 30 days. Access is provided free of charge, although we may charge a reasonable amount for the cost of retrieving or copying a large volume of records — we will tell you before any charge is incurred.
If we refuse access or a correction, we will tell you in writing why, and how you may complain about the decision.
11. Complaints
If you believe we have breached the Australian Privacy Principles or mishandled your personal information, please tell us first. Email ceo@sunhustlecotec.site with the details and what you would like done about it. We will acknowledge your complaint, investigate it, and respond in writing, ordinarily within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may refer the matter to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), the body responsible for privacy regulation in Australia. The OAIC can be contacted by post at GPO Box 5218, Sydney NSW 2001, by telephone on 1300 363 992, or through the complaints process published on its website at oaic.gov.au.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or in the law. The current version is always the one published on this page, and the date at the top of the page shows when it was last revised. Material changes affecting how we handle information already collected will be brought to your attention where it is reasonable to do so.
